Campaign Zero and Mr. Sinyangwe have resolved all disputes between them relating to the Mapping Police Violence, Police Scorecard, and Police Violence Report projects.
As of May 2026, Campaign Zero and Mr. Sinyangwe have fully settled and dismissed their legal claims against each other arising out of these disputes. The parties wish to clarify their respective work going forward, as well as certain public claims that have been made in the past.
Campaign Zero raised concerns over Mr. Sinyangwe’s conduct and use of certain organization funds. Campaign Zero has since learned that those funds were used for one of Campaign Zero’s approved projects, and that the brief disruption to its website was the result of an unrelated subscription issue. Campaign Zero thanks Mr. Sinyangwe for his contributions to the organization, including his role in conceiving and leading the Mapping Police Violence, Police Scorecard, and Police Violence Report projects.
Mr. Sinyangwe raised concerns over Campaign Zero’s operation of MappingPoliceViolence.org following his departure from the organization. Mr. Sinyangwe acknowledges that Campaign Zero has an experienced team dedicated to managing MappingPoliceViolence.org, which it has been doing since his departure, and that Campaign Zero will continue to manage the Mapping Police Violence project going forward.
Both Campaign Zero and Mr. Sinyangwe remain committed to their causes and have agreed to continue their work separately. Mr. Sinyangwe’s police data work continues at PoliceData.org, and he will continue to operate Police Scorecard at PoliceScorecard.org and Police Violence Report at PoliceViolenceReport.org. Campaign Zero will continue to operate Mapping Police Violence at MappingPoliceViolence.org.
